The Possibility of Using Bee Drone Brood to Design Novel Dietary Supplements for Apitherapy

Drone brood is a little-known bee product, often treated as beekeeping waste or natural varroosis bait. Obtaining drone from beehives does not weaken the family, which why this product used medicine in Eastern European countries. The main objective of work was to design an innovative dietary supplement containing freeze-dried (DB) enriched with calcium ions (3:1). As component, inorganic carbonate (CC) and ground chicken eggshells (ES) were used. Bioaccessibility hormones, selected nutrients (proteins amino acids), non-nutritive polyphenols pure (DB), designed supplements (DB + CC, DB ES) analyzed using vitro gastrointestinal system. It shown that components are better bioaccessible ES compared CC capsules.
